Jia grew up as an only child in South China. Both of her parents are physicians (OBGYN and Nephrology). Jia attended Beijing Language University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching Chinese as 2nd Language. In 1991, she moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to earn her Masters of Science in Communicative Disorders from The University of Alabama. Jia has been a practicing Speech Therapist since 1995 in all settings, with a specialization in pediatrics. Jia is one of the founding partners of Helping Hands Therapy. She is also a partner at Mind and Motion Developmental Centers of Georgia, one of the five specialty centers for Autism in Georgia. Jia has a son lives in Washington DC. Jia enjoys exercising and can often be found on the tennis court.

Shonda is an Occupational Therapist who received her bachelors of science degree in Occupational Therapy in 2000.  She also holds a Master’s degree and a Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy.  Shonda has a wide range of treatment experiences and a variety of specialized training and certifications in many programs.  As a proud native of Choctaw County, AL, Shonda feels extremely fortunate to be able to provide quality therapeutic services in rural and underserved areas. Her career has given her a wealth of clinical experiences working with children and adults in a variety of settings throughout AL and MS.  As the Senior Director of Business Development at HHT, Shonda is very appreciative to everyone who has entrusted HHT as a therapy provider.  She remains energetic, eager, and excited to serve and to always do all that she can to have a positive impact on as many lives as possible.

Lisa Smith has over 27 years of experience in office and business management including 18 years in medical office management. An Ohio native, Lisa absolutely loves her Southern country life now! She also loves to read, play board and card games and Minecraft with her children and grandchildren. Her biggest joy is spending time with friends and family and the love of her life, Mickey, her husband of 37 years.

Ken Hogue has been the HR Manager for Helping Hands Therapy since 2019.  Previous to working with Helping Hands, Ken served as a youth pastor for 10 years.  Ken is a big sports fan as well as a life long Atlanta Braves fan and his bucket list includes watching a game at every MLB ball park.  Ken has never seen a single Star Wars movie and has no plans to but is an avid fan of “The Office”. When vacationing you’ll find Ken and his two daughters in Destin, FL or exploring a big city across America.

Dana grew up in Gallion, AL. She earned her undergrad and Masters of Science in Communicative Disorder degrees from The University of Alabama. She has been practicing and supervising SLP for over 14 years. Though she enjoys all settings, she specializes in pediatrics and is certified in Interactive Metronome and ILS. She and her husband are the proud parents of 3 young children. Dana has lived in Monroeville for over 11 years. When she is not working, she enjoys time with her family, hunting and fishing.
